Abandoned in 2000, The Eagles Nest now sits disused and dilapidated. However the artwork here just keeps getting better and better! Have we seen these somewhere before??? Looks very familiar to stuff found in The Adelaide Darkie and Zorgas Tomb.
The artwork here is done by the Toy Soldiers crew. They’re well known around Adelaide for their distinctive style!
Named after its “V” like shape at its entrance, The V tunnel is rather pleasant compared to others — no bending required! Most duck-walk here as you navigate your way inside.
After a few twists and turns The V changes to an arched like structure as it passes under several large industrial buildings.
About half way through the floor has given way so be careful.
Moving onward the tunnel changes once again; becoming more rectangular with large steel beams supporting the roof. Cars race above here giving the tunnel some acoustic charm right before busting out topside…
It’s best to visit Pen Island under the cover of darkness — the surrounding waters are inhabited by a fire-breathing sea monster who’s favourite dish is human.
Safe on shore, Pen Island’s main recreational attraction is the BMX half-pipe. Snooker is available in back and side rooms have been made designated graffiti areas for your convenience.
